Lacoste Toiletry Bag vs R.M. Williams, Dr. Squatch and Away: Which Is Worth It?

Lacoste Toiletry Bag vs R.M. Williams, Dr. Squatch and Away: Which Is Worth It?

The Lacoste toiletry bag is a good-looking, fair-priced gift. The bag most people can still buy is the Classic Toiletry Bag in recycled canvas, at about $78 (£75). Lacoste’s leather versions, at $118–$158, were all showing as out of stock when we checked on 1 November 2026. If you want leather, R.M. Williams is the heritage choice. Away is the practical pick for frequent flyers. And the Dr. Squatch bag only comes free with a soap bundle.

We make leather dopp kits by hand in Udaipur, so yes, we have a view. But we’ve tried to be fair to all four. Below you’ll find each bag’s material, size, price and how well it works as a gift, with a handmade alternative at the end.

Why the Lacoste toiletry bag is trending right now

We found no viral video or product launch behind the spike. As of 1 November 2026, it looks like early gift shopping ahead of Black Friday on 27 November 2026, and all four rising searches are for premium men’s toiletry bags.

Here’s the Google Trends data for the seven days to 1 November 2026:

  • “lacoste toiletry bag”: Breakout (YouTube search)
  • “away large toiletry bag”: +130%
  • “rm williams toiletry bag”: +110%
  • “dr squatch toiletry bag”: +110%

Lacoste’s own 2026 range points the same way. Its US site has a floral “Holiday Toiletry Bag” from the Lacoste archives, a few bags labelled “New In 2026”, and a sale section with leather goods at 30% off.

Lacoste toiletry bag: models, prices and what’s in stock

Lacoste has a wider toiletry range than most people expect. These are the US models we could find, with their SKUs so you can search for them at other retailers:

  • Classic Toiletry Bag (NH4426HC): $78 / £75. Recycled canvas with a piqué look, an inside pocket and a carry strap. Roughly L10 × H4.7 × D4.3 in, in black or navy.
  • Neocroc Toiletry Bag (NU4787NE): $68. Recycled fabric with one outside and one inside pocket, in black.
  • Neocroc Toiletry Bag (NH4098NE): $39.99. Recycled polyester in peacoat blue. This is the cheapest way into the brand.
  • Holiday Toiletry Bag (NU4694HN): $38.99, down from $78. Floral archive print, 24 × 15 × 11 cm. Out of stock.
  • Canvas Printed (NH4462HN): $88, all-over croc print. Out of stock.
  • The Blend (NH4582LX): $120 (about £105–£115 in the UK), monogram canvas. Out of stock.
  • Branded Smooth Leather (NH3460DS): $118, leather with a snap hook. Out of stock.
  • Angy Grain Leather (NH4560GY): $158, black grain leather. Out of stock.

UK shoppers get a few extra options on the Lacoste UK toilet kit page. There’s a Neocroc Vanity at £60, an Ossian Leather Vanity at £105 after 30% off, and an Essentiel Bag with a mesh interior, sold under “Lacoste Goodies”.

Where to find it on sale

Dillard’s lists a Lacoste toiletry bag at $68. Amazon has had a “Limited time deal” on the Unisex Classic Toiletry Kit. Lyst lists one reduced from $144 to $122. The faux-fur kit on Macy’s is unavailable. Lacoste doesn’t sell a fragrance-and-toiletry-bag set either. Its gift sets pair perfume with shower gel.

Is it worth it?

For $68–$78 you’re paying for the croc logo, a tidy shape and recycled fabric. That’s fair for a gift. But it isn’t leather, and at about 10 inches long it’s a compact bag. A razor and toothbrush will fit. Several full-size bottles will be a squeeze. If leather was the point, the leather models are the ones that sold out first, so buy early or look elsewhere.

R.M. Williams toiletry bag: the leather heritage pick

R.M. Williams is an Australian company founded in 1932. It calls its toiletry bags “washbags”. They’re made in full-grain leather with a waterproof lining, which is the right pairing for a damp bathroom shelf.

  • Farrier signature washbag: about $109–$120 in the US.
  • Farrier washbag: $199 in the US, NZ$249 in New Zealand.
  • Farrier Double Zip: $210.
  • UK: retailers sell the Pebbled or Leather Washbag for about £99–£99.95.

As a gift: very strong, if he likes boots-and-moleskins style. Full-grain leather ages well and darkens with use. The downside is price, especially in the US, where the main Farrier is close to $200. And it carries their name on it, not his.

Dr. Squatch toiletry bag: free, but only with soap

This catches people out. Dr. Squatch doesn’t sell its toiletry bag on its own. It comes free with a purchase, which explains a lot of the searches.

  • Free Toiletry Bag + 9-Pack Bar Soap: $63 in the US, C$85.50 in Canada, €72 in the EU. The bag is a limited-edition corduroy design.
  • Black Friday / Cyber Monday bundle: $30 (down from $55) for soap, deodorant and body wash, plus a free bag that Dr. Squatch values at $25. That was the listed price on 1 November 2026; as a seasonal offer, it may not last beyond the holiday sales.

Sealed bags also turn up on eBay, but then you’re paying a reseller for something meant to be a freebie.

As a gift: great value if he already loves the soap. The $30 bundle is the cheapest option here by a long way. But it’s a fun extra, not a bag to keep for ten years.

Away Large Toiletry Bag: the practical traveller’s choice

The Away Large Toiletry Bag is built for airports. It measures 10.2 × 3.7 × 5.9 in, holds 3.6 litres and weighs 8.8 oz. The outside is water-repellent nylon, the lining wipes clean, and it has clear and mesh pockets inside.

The list price is $78. A sale price of 66 (down from 78) showed on Away’s UK page, and one US roundup lists it at $75. Two things to know before you buy. Away’s page marks it as final sale, with no returns, and it has a 1-year limited warranty. Jet Black was also out of stock.

Pack Hacker gave it 7.6 out of 10 (updated 3 November 2025). It’s sturdy and stands up on a counter. But it takes up a lot of room, and the small outside pocket isn’t much use. Owners also say it doesn’t open as fully as they’d like and is smaller than they expected.

As a gift: sensible and useful, especially for someone who flies a lot. Less of a “wow” to unwrap, and with no returns, you need to be sure about the colour.

A quick note on carry-on liquids

Whichever bag you choose, your liquids still need to follow airport rules. In the US, TSA’s 3-1-1 rule still applies: containers of 3.4 oz / 100 ml or less, all in one quart-size bag. The exceptions only cover CT-scanner lanes at certain airports.

The UK is patchier. Some airports with new scanners, Heathrow, Edinburgh and Birmingham among them, allow up to 2 litres. Others, including Manchester, Luton and Stansted, are reported to still enforce 100 ml. The government aimed to drop the limit at major airports by the end of 2026, but it’s behind schedule. Check your departure airport and the gov.uk hand luggage guidance before you pack.

In practice, that means a toiletry bag goes in the hold or the main suitcase, and liquids go in a clear pouch for security. Away’s clear pocket helps here. A leather wash bag is happier staying in your case.

Which toiletry bag should you buy?

  • Buy the Lacoste if he loves the brand and you want a tidy $68–$78 gift. Order soon, because the premium models are going fast.
  • Buy the R.M. Williams if you want real full-grain leather and don’t mind paying $110–$210.
  • Buy the Dr. Squatch bundle if he already uses the soap and you’re on a budget.
  • Buy the Away if he travels most weeks and wants nylon he can wipe clean.

The handmade alternative: an engraved leather dopp kit

All four of these bags carry someone else’s name. That’s fine. But the gifts people keep tend to carry theirs.

Our workshop sits by the lake in Udaipur. Our artisans cut, stitch and finish each leather dopp kit by hand, then we engrave the name you choose. It’s real leather, so it softens and darkens with every trip, much like the R.M. Williams. Unlike the Lacoste leather models, it isn’t sold out. We make them as you order. We’re small on purpose.

If you’re shopping for him, our men’s toiletry bag range shows the sizes and colours we make. For something more personal, have a look at our name-engraved gifts.

Some honest practical notes. We ship worldwide from India, so it takes longer than a parcel from a US or UK warehouse. If it’s a Christmas present, please order well ahead of the holidays. Depending on your country, your courier may also charge import duties or taxes on delivery. Check your local rules so there are no surprises at the door.

You can browse everything we make, including journals and travel bags to match, on our homepage.

Frequently asked questions

Is the Lacoste toiletry bag real leather?

Most of the models still in stock are not. The Classic Toiletry Bag is recycled canvas with a piqué look, and the Neocroc bags are recycled fabric or polyester. Lacoste does make leather versions, the Branded Smooth Leather at $118 and the Angy Grain Leather at $158, but both were showing as out of stock on 1 November 2026.

How big is the Lacoste Classic Toiletry Bag?

The Classic Toiletry Bag (NH4426HC) measures roughly 10 inches long, 4.7 inches high and 4.3 inches deep. That's big enough for a razor, toothbrush, deodorant and a few travel-size bottles. Several full-size bottles will be a squeeze, so if he packs a lot, a larger bag like the Away Large or an R.M. Williams Double Zip may suit him better.

Can you buy the Dr. Squatch toiletry bag on its own?

No. Dr. Squatch gives the bag away free with a purchase. It comes with the 9-pack bar soap bundle, priced at $63 in the US, and with a $30 Black Friday and Cyber Monday bundle of soap, deodorant and body wash. Dr. Squatch values the bag at $25. Sealed bags are resold on eBay, but you'll pay a reseller's mark-up.

Can I return the Away Large Toiletry Bag?

Away's product page lists the Large Toiletry Bag as final sale, which means no returns. It does come with a 1-year limited warranty. Since owners often say it's smaller than they expected, check the measurements (10.2 × 3.7 × 5.9 inches, 3.6 litres) and choose the colour carefully before you order, especially if it's a gift.

Is a toiletry bag TSA-friendly for carry-on?

A toiletry bag itself is allowed in carry-on luggage, but the liquids inside must follow the rules. In the US, TSA's 3-1-1 rule limits containers to 3.4 oz or 100 ml, all in one quart-size bag. UK rules vary by airport, so check gov.uk and your departure airport before you fly. Most travellers keep a separate clear liquids pouch.

How can I avoid a fake Lacoste toiletry bag?

Buy from lacoste.com or well-known retailers such as Dillard's, Macy's, or Amazon listings sold by Lacoste or a trusted seller. Check that the SKU, such as NH4426HC for the Classic, matches Lacoste's own listing. Be wary of leather models at very low prices, since Lacoste's own leather toiletry bags were out of stock in November 2026.
