If you need a personalised gift fast, a big personalized gift shop like Personalization Mall or Shutterfly is usually your quickest option. Three of the best-known names, Personalization Mall, Things Remembered and Personal Creations, now have the same owner, PlanetArt. The sale closed on 19 October 2026, according to 1-800-Flowers. If you’d rather have something made by hand that will last for decades, an artisan maker is worth the extra wait.
That sale explains a lot of the recent searching. Google Trends data fetched on 28 October 2026 showed “personalized gift shop” searches up 110% in 24 hours and “personal creations” up 170% over seven days. Over 30 days, “things remembered” rose 130% and “personalized mall” rose 110%, and “shutterfly” was marked Breakout.
1-800-Flowers announced the deal on 29 September 2026 at about $45 million in cash. The closing release doesn’t repeat the price. It says the money will go toward paying down debt and “strategic initiatives”.

1. Personalization Mall
Personalization Mall was founded in Chicago in 1998, according to PlanetArt. You get a wide catalogue, free personalisation and quick production at personalizationmall.com. Its holiday shipping guarantees only cover the 48 contiguous US states. 1-800-Flowers and PlanetArt said they “expect to enter into” a commercial agreement that would let 1-800-Flowers keep selling some Personalization Mall products. As of 30 October 2026, there’s been no announcement that the agreement has been signed.
2. Things Remembered
Things Remembered started out as an engraving shop. Some pages still say it has “600+ locations”, but that’s out of date. On 28 December 2022 the brand announced it was closing all its stores, and 1-800-Flowers bought it in January 2023. You can only order online now, at thingsremembered.com.
3. Personal Creations
PlanetArt already owned Personal Creations before this deal, so it’s now a sister brand of the two above. The three still run as separate websites.
4. Shutterfly
Shutterfly is the one to pick for photos. On 20 October 2026 it became the official photo gift partner of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line and Aulani. Park guests can choose to have their PhotoPass photos sent straight to their Shutterfly account. Disney Cruise Line and Aulani are expected to get the same feature in early 2027.
5. Artisan makers
These are small workshops where a real person cuts, stitches and engraves each piece. It’s slower and usually costs more. In return you get full-grain leather, hand stitching and a name that won’t peel off.

When handmade engraved leather is worth the wait
We’ll be honest. If the birthday is this Saturday, order from one of the big sites. They’re built for speed.
Handmade makes more sense when the gift is meant to last. That might be a journal for someone who writes every day, or a bag that will travel for twenty years. Our workshop is in Udaipur, near the lake, and every piece is made by hand there. We’re small on purpose.

What happens next
No official release has said yet what the PlanetArt sale means for existing orders, gift cards or rewards. If you have any of these, contact the brand’s customer service directly. 1-800-Flowers reports its fiscal 2027 first-quarter results on 5 November 2026, before the market opens. It has said it will update its fiscal 2027 guidance then, because the guidance it issued on 10 September 2026 didn’t account for the sale. Is handmade engraved leather worth the extra wait?
